A coach takes the time to find out what winning in life means to you. A coach is a personal cheerleader, encourager, and mentor who helps keep the focus on what's most important to you. A coach is someone who will hold you accountable and support you all the way until you get to where you want to be.
How Does Coaching Work?
Coaching can be done online, in-person, or over the phone in 1-hour or 1.5 hour time slots, often weekly sessions giving the most transformative benefit. Affordable solutions include working consecutively using a coaching package until a goal is achieved. The cornerstone of any successful coaching session is to begin with a clear set of intentions and goals. You'll explore what you want and what thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors to change, and how to create the improvements you're looking for . Being in the same city, state, or even the same country is not necessary to work with a coach, with today's technology there are a variety of options for support.
How is Coaching Different Than Therapy?
The main difference from a therapy session versus a coaching session, is the client and practitioner interactions towards goals and intentions. In a therapy session, you will most likely receive a mental health diagnosis and use the session time to work on "why" you are facing current challenges. In a coaching session, you will never be diagnosed or psychoanalyzed, rather you'll experience acknowledgment and acceptance from the coach, and be given the tools on "how to" move away from dysfunction into accountability and resourcefulness. Therapy is ideal to receive when you have experienced an acute crisis, or had a devastating blow to your emotional life, or can no longer function in your personal life or relationships. Coaching is ideal for moving your life from ordinary to extraordinary, from mediocrity to greatness, from dreaming to achieving, and from hoping to actualizing.
Who Benefits From Coaching?
Coaching is best suited to a healthy clientele seeking freedom from unwanted behavior patterns and who are solution-oriented problem solving. Coaching encourages accountability to get things accomplished and supportive in raising your consciousness. Coaches generally work with individuals comfortable with paying out-of-pocket for mental health services who are willing to invest in themselves. Seeking the services of coach avoids the stigma that has often been associated with "seeking a therapist". In addition, coaching can be more efficient than therapy. The coach focuses on how to change the clients thinking and behaviors to ensure that the client lives the life that they aspire to live.
What Kinds of People Are Attracted To Coaching?
People who have already done "work" on themselves, people who never done work on themselves, people who just want to stop procrastinating and get more motivated, or people who have "tried everything" and can't seem to stop unwanted behavior patterns, and people who want to feel "at home" within themselves and expand their consciousness.
Can I Use My Health Insurance To Pay You?
Unfortunately, no, at this time health insurance companies do not cover Life Coaching services. While most health insurance covers psychological services, the intention of such services require a "diagnosis" be made by a licensed counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist if they are to be reimbursed for a patients visit. Yet, it may not always be in a persons best interest to have a "psychological diagnosis" on their records. In fact, emotionally healthy, successful, and spiritually-oriented people are oftentimes better served with a Life Coach because clinical practitioners are specifically trained to only relieve symptoms of neurosis and psychosis.
